Allen & Wheelock Center Hammer Muzzleloading Rifle

Single-shot rifle chambered for .44-caliber percussion. Had 36" round barrel, with octagonal breech. Center-mounted hammer offset to right for sighting. Iron mountings. Finish browned. Case colored lock. Ramrod mounted under barrel. Walnut buttstock, with crescent buttplate and no forearm. Approximately 100 manufactured in 1850s.
