Unusual breech mechanism that was activated by a rotating lever, which resembled a water faucet. Barrel browned. Case colored lock and walnut stock. Marked, "Allen & Wheelock/ Allen's Patent July 3, 1855". Approximately 500 manufactured between 1855 and 1860.
