Allen & Thurber/Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer Muzzleloading Rifle

Similar to Center Hammer model, with hammer mounted on right side of lock. Chambered for .38-caliber percussion, with octagon barrel from 28" to 32" in length. Occasionally found with a patchbox. Barrel browned. Case colored lock, walnut stock with crescent butt-plate. Several hundred manufactured from early 1840s to 1860s.
