Allen & Thurber Sidehammer Pistol

Single-shot target-type pistol. Chambered for .34-, .41- and .45-caliber percussion. Part-octagon barrel from 6" to 10" in length. Wooden ramrod mounted under barrel. Hood quality rear sight that was adjustable. Ornate trigger guard had a graceful spur at its rear. Finish blued. Rounded walnut grip. Barrel marked, "Allen & Thurber, Worchester". Approximately 300 manufactured in late 1840s and early 1850s.
