High Powered stainless steel semi-automatic pistol. Developed by Sanford Arms Company of Pasadena, California, in 1960s. Chambered for a special cartridge known as .44 AMP, which had a 240-grain .44-caliber bullet. Production of this arm has been carried out by a number of companies over the past 47 years, beginning in 1971. Believed that fewer than 9,000 have been produced by eight manufacturers involved.
