Founded in 1962, Charter Arms has had several name and location changes. Original production was in Stratford, Connecticut until 1991 and in Ansonia, Connecticut from 1992 to 1996. From 1998 to 2005 the company name was Charter 2000. It was located in Shelton, Connecticut, where the current company, again known as Charter Arms is headquartered. Note: Several current production models are available with scratch-resistant hardened Blacknitride finish for approximately $100 more.
