Cofer Navy Revolver

A .36-caliber spur trigger percussion revolver, with 7.5" octagonal barrel and 6-shot cylinder. Top strap marked "T.W. Cofer's/Patent" and barrel "Portsmouth, Va." Manufactured in limited quantities during the Civil War. Sources report there are only about 16 known surviving Cofer revolvers in at least two variations. Recent sales of three different specimens appearing to be in very good to fine condition are reported sold in the $70,000 to $130,000 each range. Estimates have been as high as $350,000.
