This series of compact 1911-type pistols, was first manufactured by Detonics Firearms Industries in Bellvue, WA from 1976 to 1988. That firm was sold to New Detonics Mfg. Corp. of Phoenix, AZ, which operated from 1989 to 1992. In 2004, the brand was resurrected and returned to production by Detonics USA in Pendergrass, GA. Then in 2007, Detonics USA and all if its predecessors was sold to a group of investors who established the current company, known only as Detonics, in Millstadt, IL. The company name was changed in 2013 to Detonics Defense Technologies.
