Represents the first pistol Star produced that was not a Mannlicher design. Copied from Colt 1911. Chambered initially for 9mm Largo in hopes of securing a military contract. When this contract was awarded to Astra, Star chambered Model 1919 for .38 Super, .45 ACP and put it on the commercial market. Model like Colt 1911—has a Browning-type swinging link and same type of lock-up. However, there is no grip safety and thumb safety functions differently.
