Ansley H. Fox established Fox Gun Company, in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1896. Subsequently, he made arms under the name Philadelphia Gun Company. As of 1905, he operated under the name A.H. Fox. In 1930, this company was purchased by Savage Arms Company, who continued manufacturing all grades of Fox shotguns.
