See—HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON
Location: Gardner, Massachusetts
This break-action, single-shot rifle has been around in one form or another since the 1960s. Side lever release, automatic ejection, hardwood or synthetic stock, passive transfer-bar safety. Available in nearly every conceivable rimfire and centerfire chambering (except the biggest centerfires) and continued under the auspices of Marlin until the company’s purchase by Remington, who discontinued the line. Nonetheless, the rifle is as good a bargain today as it ever was. Some later models feature factory scopes, bull barrels, thumbhole stocks and other niceties, but are still Handi-Rifles. Value generally under $300 even in New or Excellent condition, sometimes remarkably under.
