Double-Action Revolvers

These “pocket revolvers” were made in a wide variety of configurations and under a wide variety of names. Most are .22 rimfire, .32 S&W, or .38 S&W. They can be sorted into four major types: Solid-frame exposed hammer revolvers that typically load through a loading gate. Hammerless (concealed-hammer) solid frame. Manual safety worth slight premium. Top-break exposed hammer revolvers. Safety Police variations typically have a pinch-open barrel release instead of the conventional lift-latch found on most. Hammerless (concealed-hammer) top-break revolvers. A novel feature found on some of the conventional hammer revolvers, worth a slight premium, is a patented folding hammer spur. Others were made with bobbed hammer spurs. While most have round butts and relatively short barrels, 4” and 5” barrels are also found. The Range Models have oversize square butt grips with a slight knuckle and 4 ½” or 6” barrels.
