Formerly ISRAEL MILITARY INDUSTRIES (IMI). Israeli manufacturer of military and sporting arms founded as Israel Military Industries (IMI) in the 1930s and renamed Israel Weapon Industries with products most recently imported as IWI, USA. Best known products include Uzi submachine guns and Galil assault rifles, along with semi-auto sporting versions of the same design. IMI/IWI produced guns have been sold in America under other brands, including Action Arms (Uzi Models A&B), Desert Eagle (magnum semi-auto pistols), Magnum Research, and Mossberg (Uzi American arms), and Springfield Armory. Some IWI/IMI made models will be found in those sections.
