.50-70 Alteration

Approximately 1,600 Joslyn rifles re-chambered to fire .50-70 centerfire cartridge. Conversion consisted of re-chambering and drilling a new firing pin hole after rimfire pin was sealed. No specific serial number range in which these conversions were done. Most of these weapons were eventually converted to smoothbores and sold in Africa. Original military specimens are extremely scarce.
