Pepperbox

.31-caliber four-barreled pepperbox, with concealed hammer. Barrels 3.25" in length. Ring trigger used to cock weapon, while smaller trigger located outside ring is used to fire weapon. Barrels on this pistol do not revolve. Revolving striker inside frame that turns to fire each chamber. Barrels must be removed for loading and capping purposes. Frame is iron and blued, with engraving. Rounded grips are walnut. Barrel stamped "G. Leonard Jr. Charlestown". Fewer than 200 manufactured in 1849 and 1850.
