4" barrel, 9mm caliber. No stock lug; year of manufacture from 1910-1913 stamped above chamber. Extractor and safety are both marked in German. "ERFURT" under a crown stamped on front toggle link. Many thousands produced as Germany was involved in WWI. Found in one- to five-digit serial range, sometimes with a letter suffix.

1914 Erfurt Military


4" barrel, 9mm caliber. Has a stock lug and date of manufacture over chamber 1914-1918. Extractor and safety are both marked in German and front link marked "ERFURT" under a crown. Finish on this model is rough; as war progressed in 1917 and 1918 finish got worse. Many thousands produced with one- to five-digit serial numbers, some with letter suffixes.

1914 Erfurt Artillery


8" barrel, 9mm caliber. Has a stock lug. Issued with a flat board-type stock and other accessories which will be covered in the section of this book dealing with same. Sight is a nine-position adjustable model. Chamber is dated 1914 and extractor and safety are both marked in German. "ERFURT" under a crown is stamped on front toggle link. A great many manufactured with one- to five-digit serial numbers, some with a letter suffix. Model similar to DWM Artillery, except finish is not as fine.

Double Date Erfurt


4" barrel, 9mm caliber. Area above chamber has two dates: original 1910-1918 and date of rework, 1920 or 1921. Extractor and safety are both marked in German. Model can be found with or without stock lug. "ERFURT" under a crown is stamped on front toggle link. Police or military unit markings are found on front of grip straps, more often than not. Thousands produced by DWM as well as Erfurt.
