4" barrel, 9mm caliber. Has a stock lug and date of manufacture over chamber 1914-1918. Extractor and safety are both marked in German and front link marked "ERFURT" under a crown. Finish on this model is rough; as war progressed in 1917 and 1918 finish got worse. Many thousands produced with one- to five-digit serial numbers, some with letter suffixes.

8" barrel, 9mm caliber. Has a stock lug. Issued with a flat board-type stock and other accessories which will be covered in the section of this book dealing with same. Sight is a nine-position adjustable model. Chamber is dated 1914 and extractor and safety are both marked in German. "ERFURT" under a crown is stamped on front toggle link. A great many manufactured with one- to five-digit serial numbers, some with a letter suffix. Model similar to DWM Artillery, except finish is not as fine.

Model can be found with or without stock lug. "ERFURT" under a crown is stamped on front toggle link. Police or military unit markings are found on front of grip straps, more often than not. Thousands produced by DWM as well as Erfurt.
