Magnum Research introduced two lighter weight models in the Desert Eagle L5 and the L6. Lighter by a pound or two respectively in comparison to other similar Desert Eagle pistols weighing almost 5 pounds. Offered in .50 AE, .44 Magnum and .357 Magnum with 5-inch barrels with integral muzzle brake, hard-coat anodized black aluminum frame, black carbon steel slide and barrel and Hogue rubber grip. Longer barrels are not compatible with the L5. The L6 versions (same calibers as L5 but with 6” barrels) are about 11 oz. lighter than similar Desert Eagles. The L6 is offered with hard-coat anodized black aluminum frame, stainless steel slide and integral muzzle brake, and a Picatinny rail on the frame. The lightweight L5/L6 Desert Eagles take the same magazines as the current steel models. The L5 was introduced in 2006.
