.31-caliber percussion revolver, with 4", 5" or 6" barrel and 5- or 6-shot cylinder. Blued case-hardened, with walnut grips. Barrel marked "Manhattan Firearms/Manufg. Co. New York" on 5-shot model, serial numbers from 1 to approximately 1,000; "Manhattan Firearms Mfg. Co. New York" on 6-shot model, frame marked "December 27, 1859".
