Deluxe version of No. 4-1/2" rifle. Features scroll engraving on frame, with "Ballard A-1" on left and "Mid-Range" on right. Chambered for .38-50 and .40-65 cartridge. Has a high-grade checkered stock, with horn fore-end tip. Sights are highest-grade Vernier tang sight and a spirit lever front sight. Shotgun-/rifle-style butt was optional. Manufactured between 1878 and 1880.
