Different than its predecessors. Features a steel frame and flat bottom butt, with hard rubber monogram grips. Still a spur trigger and 3.25" ribbed round barrel that tipped up for loading. Chambered for .38 centerfire cartridge. Finish is full nickel plate. Top of barrel marked "38 Standard 1878". Approximately 9,000 manufactured between 1878 and 1887.
