Introduced in 1948. Improved version of Model 36. Features a new-type round bolt chrome-plated, with improved extractor and re-designed cartridge carrier that improved feeding. Chambered for .30-30 and .32 Special cartridges. Has 20" tapered round barrel, with Ballard-type rifling. Finish blued, with receiver top matted to reduce reflections. Pistol-grip stock and semi-beavertail fore-end are of American walnut. Features Rocky Mountain-style rear and bead front sights. Hammer is lowered to facilitate scope mounting.
