Model 1888 Lever-Action Rifle

Chambered for .32-20, .38-40 and .44-40 cartridges. Shorter action was designed (chiefly by Lewis Hepburn) to handle pistol cartridges for which it was chambered. Standard barrel was octagonal, but round barrels were available as special-order items. Top ejecting action. Has buckhorn rear and blade front sight. Finish blued, with case colored hammer, lever and buttplate. Walnut stock varnished. Approximately 4,800 manufactured in 1888 and 1889. As with most of these fine old rifles, many special-order options were available that affect today's market value. Individual appraisal would be necessary for these special models, to ascertain both value and authenticity. NOTE: Add 40 percent premium for half octagon barrel; 20 percent premium for round barrel.
