Model 1894 Lever-Action Rifle
Similar to Model 1893, with a shorter action. Chambered for .25-20, .32-20, .38-40 and .44-40. Offered standard: 24" to 32" round or octagonal barrels with full-length magazine tubes; buckhorn rear and blade front sights. Finish is case colored receiver, lever, hammer and buttplate. Rest is blued. Walnut stock varnished. First versions marked "Marlin Fire-Arms Co., New Haven, Ct.U.S.A./Patented Oct.11, 1887. April 2,1889". Top of frame marked "Marlin Safety" and model designation is not stamped on tang. These early rifles were chambered for .38-40 and .44-40 only. Later rifles added patent date "Aug. 1, 1893"; "Model 1894" was stamped on tang. On latest versions this was shortened to "Model 94". Approximately 250,000 manufactured between 1894 and 1935. This model was produced with a great many options. Individual appraisal should be secured when confronted with these features. NOTE: Add 100 percent premium for musket, 25 percent premium for saddle ring carbine, 200 percent premium for “Baby Carbine.”
