In 1984, company added a crossbolt hammer-block safety to 444S and re-designated it 444SS.
Introduced in 1999. Chambered for .444 Marlin cartridge. Fitted with 18.5" ported barrel. Tubular magazine capacity 5 rounds. Walnut stock, with straight-grip. Ventilated recoil pad standard. Weight about 6.75 lbs. Discontinued 2002.
