RIGBY, JOHN & CO., LTD.
Location: London, England
This company was established in the 18th century in U.K. and has produced a wide variety of firearms over the years. It traces its roots back to 1735 in Dublin, where the company was known for its percussion dueling pistols. A branch was opened in London in 1865, where some of the world's finest double rifles were made for more than 130 years, many of them made to order. In 1997, a group of investors acquired the company and moved it to Paso Robles, California, where a limited number of Rigby models were manufactured for several years. In 2010, an investor group from Texas bought the company and returned it to London, where Paul Roberts of J. Roberts and Sons was contracted to make rifles. The L&O Group, which owns Mauser, Blaser and Sauer, purchased the company in 2013. It was relocated to a new facility in Pensbury Place, London in 2014. The classic Rigby double guns made from the mid-1800s through the late-1990s must be evaluated on an individual basis, like other British high-end sporting arms. Depending on configuration, condition, engraving, casing, etc., values may run through five figures into six figures. The values listed below are for recent production arms.
