A .28- or .31-caliber percussion 5 barrel pistol, with barrel groups measuring 3.5" or 4.5" in length. Ring trigger, blued iron frame with simple scroll engraving. Browned barrels are marked "Robbins & Lawrence Co. Windsor, VT. Patent. 1849". Barrel groups for this pistol were made in two types: fluted in both calibers; ribbed in .31-caliber only. Approximately 7,000 made between 1851 and 1854.
