Carpati 95

In 1995, ROMARM state factory introduced a commercial copy of older Carpati 74. It was Romania's intention to enter the post Eastern Bloc surplus boom with a new pistol. Carpati 95 is a 7-shot semi-automatic pistol in Walther PPK class. Chambered for .380 ACP. An updated version of Mdl 74 which included an ambidextrous safety on the slide, black plastic thumbrest grips and a finger grip magazine floorplate. Primarily imported by Century International, it is believed to have entered the U.S. in limited quantities between 1996 to 1999. They came in a pasteboard box, with cleaning brush and spare magazine. Marked ROMARM Carpati 95 and Cugir factory diamond on left slide, its quality is somewhat less than its original ancestor with light visible machine marks and ill-fitting grips. A serviceable pistol none the less, its final finish leaves much to be desired. It is believed to be still in production, however, present sales have been limited to Europe. Not commonly encountered.
