SAUER MODEL 1913 SECOND SERIES

Commercial variation

Normal European/German slide markings are normally found; however it has been called to my attention that there are English Export pistols in this SECOND SERIES. They have the English markings on the slide which are similar to those found on FIRST SERIES Model 1913. This is applicable to both the 7.65mm and 6.35mm Model 1913/19 pistols. These are exceptionally scarce pistols and should command at least a 50 percent premium, perhaps more due to their rarity. This commercial variation had factory manuals printed in English, Spanish and German which came with the cardboard boxed pistols. NOTE: With the original Sauer box, accessories and manual: Add $300 if in very good to excellent condition.

Police Variations

These will be standard German Commercial configuration, but always having Zusatzsicherung (additional safety) added to pistol. Safety is found between regular safety lever and top of left grip. Police used both calibers 7.65mm and 6.35mm, but 7.65mm was predominant. After early part of 1930s, 6.35mm was not available to police departments. Thus, 6.35mm police marked Sauer is rather scarce in relation to 7.65mm caliber. Few in 7.65mm are dated 1920 on left side of frame and were used by auxiliary policemen in Bavaria. Normal police property markings are on front or rear grip straps. Most were originally issued with at least two magazines and police accepted holster. Mags were usually numbered and holsters are found with and without pistol numbers. NOTE: Add 10 percent for one correctly numbered magazine; 20 percent if found with both correctly numbered magazines; 30 percent if found with correct holster and magazines.

R.F.V. (Reich Finanz Verwaltung)

This Sauer variation is rarely found in any condition. R.F.V. markings and property number could be 1 to 4 digits. This variation is found in both calibers. Used by the Reich's Customs and Finance department personnel.

Imperial Military Variations

Normal German commercial variations of the time period. Either Imperial Eagle acceptance marking applied on front of trigger guard and having small Imperial Army inspector's acceptance marking (crown over a scriptic letter) on right side of frame close to Nitro proof; or just Imperial Army inspector's marking alone. Usually pistols are found in 40000 to 85000 range. However, quantity actually of Imperial Military accepted is quite low even though thousands were privately purchased by officer corps. There are examples in 6.35mm which are Imperial Military accepted, but these are very scarce. NOTE: Add 30 percent for 6.35mm.
