Manufactured in a variety of calibers, barrel lengths and stock styles. Barrel markings are of three forms: initially, "Sharps Rifle Manufg. Co. Hartford, Conn." ; then, "Sharps Rifle Co. Hartford, Conn." ; finally "Sharps Rifle Co. Bridgeport, Conn." As of 1876 "Old Reliable" was stamped on barrels. This marking usually found on Bridgeport-marked rifles only. Major styles of this model are listed. Sharps rifles documented as shipped to Montana, Wyoming, and other "buffalo hunting" destinations will generally bring a premium.
