SHARPS RIFLE MANUFACTURING COMPANY

First Sharps rifles to be manufactured were made by A.S. Nippes of Mill Creek, Pennsylvania. Later they were made by Robbins & Lawrence of Windsor, Vermont. It wasn't until 1855, that Sharps established his own factory in Hartford, Connecticut. After his death in 1874, the company was reorganized as Sharps Rifle Company and remained in Hartford until 1876 when it moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut. It effectively ceased operations in 1880.The following descriptions are just a brief guide and are by no means exhaustive.
