.44 Hand Ejector 1st Model (Triple Lock)


Also known by collectors as ".44 Triple Lock" or "The New Century." The Triple Lock nickname came from a separate locking device located on extractor rod shroud that is used in addition to usual two locks. Chambered for .44 S&W Special cartridge or .44 S&W Russian. On a limited basis, also chambered in .44-40, .45 Colt, .455 Mark II and .38-40. Fluted cylinder holds 6-shots. Barrel offered in standard lengths of 5 or 6.5 in. Limited quantity of 4" barrels produced. Finish blued or nickel-plated; grips checkered walnut with gold S&W medallion on later models. Approximately 15,375 manufactured between 1908 and 1915. Note: Add 100% premium for factory target sights.

.44 Hand Ejector 2nd Model


Quite similar in appearance to 1st Model. Major difference, elimination of third or triple lock device and heavy ejector rod shroud. Other changes are internal and not readily apparent. Standard in .44 S&W Special chambering, but offered rarely in .38-40, .44-40 and .45 Colt. Specimens have been noted with adjustable sights in 6.5" barrel lengths. Standard barrel lengths 4", 5" and 6.5". Approximately 17,510 manufactured between 1915 and 1937, serial number range 15376-60000. Note: Add 50% premium for factory target sights. Standard chambering is .44 Special, add 75% to 100% for rare original .38-40, .44-40 or .45 Colt caliber.

.44 Hand Ejector 3rd Model or Model of 1926

Similar in appearance to 2nd Model but brought back the heavy ejector rod shroud of 1st Model, without triple lock device. Barrel lengths 4, 5 and 6.5 in. Manufactured between 1926-1949. Add 50 percent premium for factory target sights. Standard chambering is .44 Special, add 50% to 100% for rare original .44-40 or .45 Colt caliber.
