One of the most popular firearms used by Union forces during the Civil War. Chambered for a metallic rimfire cartridge known as "No. 56". It's actually a .52-caliber and made with a copper case. Barrel is 22" in length. Finish blued, with a carbine-length walnut stock held on by one barrel band. There is a sling swivel at the butt. Approximately 50,000 manufactured between 1863 and 1865.
