First in business during 1850s, Stalcup received a contract in 1862, to modify sporting arms for military use. Overall length 50.875" to 51.75"; octagonal barrels 35.25" - 36" turned round at muzzle for socket bayonets; .54-caliber. Rifles assembled with sporting locks, new stocks and brass furniture. At least 102 rifles were delivered in 1862. These arms are unmarked.
