Mannlicher Model 1896/03
Courtesy Joseph Schroeder
Most confusing of Mannlicher's pistols. Earliest examples, which have fixed magazine and ribbed barrel, may have been made by Steyr and are very rare. Later versions, with removable box magazine, have been called "Model 1896/03" and "Model 1901", and made as both pistol and pistol-carbine, possibly in Switzerland. Chambered for 7.65mm Mannlicher cartridge, which is really a 7.65mm Borchardt. Prices listed are for standard later model pistol or pistol-carbine (12" barrel, tangent sight); double prices for early pistol or late model pistol with detachable holster stock.
