Introduced in 1968. Offered with 22”, 24” or 26” barrel. Model 77 chambered for most calibers from .22-250 through .458 Win. Magnum. Action is a modified Mauser-type, finished in blue with checkered walnut stock and red rubber buttplate. Available milled for Ruger scope rings or in round-top style that allows mounting of any popular scope ring system. Designated 77R when supplied with rings only; and 77RS when supplied with rings and sights. This model replaced by Model 77 MK II. Note: Add $400 for 6.5 Rem., .284, .350 Rem. Discontinued.

This is an example of the slight variations that make this model collectible. Essentially same rifle, with knob on bolt handle flattened. Only produced in this configuration until 1972. Watch for fakes and read specialized material. Calibers such as 6.5 Rem. Magnum, .284 and .350 Rem. Magnum will bring a premium especially in RS model. Non-prefixed rifles exist in calibers and configurations other than those advertised by Ruger These should be individually appraised. Note: Add $400 for 6.5. Rem., .284, .350 Rem. Discontinued.

This variation similar to standard model, except it features an ultralight 20" barrel and black forearm tip. Also available in 18.5" carbine version, with sights designated RLS. Chambered for .22-250, .243, .257, .270, .250-3000, .308 and .30-06. Weight 6 lbs. Discontinued.

Similar to standard Model 77, except it has a 24” heavy barrel that is drilled and tapped for target-scope bases and wider beavertail forearm. Chambered for .22-250, .243, 6mm, .25-06, .280 and .308. Also chambered for .220 Swift in a 26” heavy weight barrel. Discontinued.

This version of Model 77 has a full-length Mannlicher-style stock. Was chambered for .22-250, .250-3000, .243, .270, 7mm-08, .308 and .30-06. Discontinued.

A heavier-barreled version, with steel triggerguard and floorplate. Earlier versions were stocked with fine-quality Circassian walnut. Chambered for .458 Win. Magnum. Fewer than 50 rifles chambered for .416 Taylor cartridge and produced up to 1976. Selling prices range from $3,000 to $5,000 and should be individually appraised. Bolt-action rifle based on M77 MKII chassis. Introduced in 2005, this variation is configured for scout-style scope mount system. Chambered in .243, .308, 7mm-08, .300 WSM, .325 WSM, .338 Federal. Gray laminated stock, 16.5" blued or stainless barrel. Stainless barrel and action model introduced 2006. In 2008, added .338 Federal and .358 Win. Frontier Rifle discontinued in 2008. Note: Add 15% for stainless barrel; add 10% for stainless barrel and action. Discontinued.

Introduced in 2011 as the Gunsite Scout in honor of Jeff Cooper, today’s Scout is in Hawkeye series with a 16.1” barrel in black laminate or synthetic stock, built-in adjustable ghost ring rear aperture sight and protected blade front sight, flash suppressor or muzzle brake, forward-mounted Picatinny rail for intermediate eye relief scopes, detachable box magazine with push-forward magazine release. Caliber .308 (a left-hand model available) or .450 Bushmaster (in matte blue with walnut stock or stainless steel and synthetic stock). Weight 7 lbs.
