Romanian Licensed Tokarev

Manufactured at Cugir Romania arms factory, TTC or Tulskiye Tokarev Cugir was produced from 1952 to 1959. Remained the standard Romanian service pistol until the Romanian revolution of 1989. Huge quantities of TTC have been imported to United States in the last 15 years and are still available from distributors as of this writing. Lined hard rubber grips have "RPR" between the star points which is Republika Populus Romana or Peoples Republic of Romania. Much like the Polish version, TTC has BATF-required supplemental trigger safety. It is believed none were ever exported to other nations such as North Vietnan, thus their appearance in the United States was an all time first. However, an example found without the import safety or markings would yield a great price. Serial number located on left frame and upper slide. Interestingly, the narrow finger grips at the slide's rear are similar to a Colt 1911, and not the line and oval type of Russian TT-33. Most offered for sale from dealers at the present include a brown leather holster. Romanian TTC Tokarev imports that are encountered with a Wreath, Hammer and Sickle on the rear of the upper slide between the rear sight and serial number are very scarce. These pistols were specially stamped for issue to Communist Party Apparatchiks or high level members of the Romanian communist party. This marking is found thus far on pistols dated 1952 and 1953, and less than 2,500 were stamped. Very few have been imported and the markings should add 200 percent to the below listed prices. Condition of pistols with such emblems are not affected by this increase given their extreme scarcity.
