Russian Tokarev
Russian Tula Tokarev or TT-33, replaced earlier TT-30 in 1934 and remained in service into the late 1950s, despite its supposed replacement by the Makarov in 1951. An 8-shot semi-automatic pistol in 7.62x25mm caliber. Has a 4.6" barrel, with a short-recoil tilting barrel system. Tokarev was manufactured at Izshevsk arsenal until 1952. Probably has seen service with more countries, both communist and third world, than any other military handgun. Only safety feature on this pistol is placing the hammer at half-cock. Blued finish, hard rubber lined grips with communist star and CCCP (USSR) marked between the star points. Serial number with star and year of production is found on rear left frame. Top of slide also numbered. Take-down latch located on right frame. Russian Tokarev has recently become highly collectible, especially WWII dated examples. NOTE: Add 40 percent premium for pistols with wartime wooden grips.
