Single Barreled Percussion Shotgun

Firearm manufactured by Whitney out of surplus .58-caliber rifle barrels that were opened up and converted to smoothbore .60-caliber shotgun barrels. Offered in lengths 28" to 36" and marked "Whitney Arms Co., Whitneyville, Conn. Homogeneous Wrought Steel". Finish blued, with varnished walnut stocks that are crudely checkered. Approximately 2,000 manufactured between 1866 and 1869. These guns are rarely encountered on today's market.
