When Remington's patent for Rolling Block action expired, Whitney was quick to reproduce the action labeling it his "New Improved System". Essentially quite similar to Remington's Rolling Block and is easily recognized when compared with Model 1 because it has only two parts — hammer and breech-block. Frame is also rounded. Tang on this model marked "Whitney Arms Company, New Haven Ct USA". Approximately 50,000 totally manufactured between 1881 and 1888. There are a number of variations listed.
