Model 1905
Model 1905 was a larger version of Model 1903. Developed by T.C. Johnson to handle more powerful centerfire cartridges. Chambered for .32 Win. Self-Loading and .35 Self-Loading cartridges. Loading by means of a detachable box magazine. Available in take-down only. First Winchester semi-automatic rifle to fire centerfire cartridges. Produced from 1905 to 1920, with about 30,000 rifles sold.
Offered in two different styles:
1. Sporting Rifle: 22" round barrel; plain walnut straight-grip (changed to pistol-grip in 1908) stock; plain fore-end.
2. Fancy Sporting Rifle: 22" round barrel; fancy walnut checkered pistol-grip stock; checkered fore-end.
