SAA Early Military Cavalry Model 1873-1877

Serial number range on this first run of military contract revolvers extends to #24000. Barrel address is in early script style, with # symbol preceding and following. Frame bears martial marking "US" and walnut grips have inspector's cartouche stamped on them. Front sight is steel as on all military models; barrel length 7.5"; caliber .45 Colt; ejector rod head is bull's-eye or donut style, with a hole in the center of it. Finish features military polish and case colored frame, with remainder blued. Authenticate any potential purchase; many spurious examples have been noted. Rarely found in higher condition grade, values are speculative. In 2020, Rock Island sold the "Finest known Ainsworth inspected" SAA for $207,000.
