This model was in continual production from 1898 through 1944. Chambered for 11 different calibers: .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .38-40, .44 Russian, .44 Special, .44-40, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .450 Eley, .455 Eley and .476 Eley. Offered in barrel lengths from 2" to 7.5", blued or nickel-plated. Checkered hard rubber grips were standard until 1928. Then checkered walnut grips were used, with an inset Colt medallion. This was the largest swing-out cylinder double-action revolver that Colt ever produced. Approximately 356,000 were manufactured over the 46 years they were made. There are many different variations of this revolver and one should consult a book dealing strictly with Colt for a thorough breakdown and description. NOTE: Add 30 percent for nickel finish; 40 percent for factory ivory or pearl grips.
