OLYMPIC ARMS, INC.
Location: Olympia, Washington
This company was in business for more than 60 years, first as a barrel maker and later as a manufacturer of bolt-action and AR-style rifles. In the 1980s, company bought Safari Arms, a manufacturer of 1911-style pistols. Many of these models remained in production under the Safari name until 2004, when they were changed to the Olympic brand. In 2014, the company announced that all handgun production was being discontinued. In 2017 the company announced it was closing but as of mid-2018 was still open and selling its remaining inventory. On March 12, 2018, the following statement was put on the company’s website, olyarms.com. “Olympic Arms is working through the process of transitioning into new ownership…Olympic Arms remains open for business to both Dealer and Retail customers. While some product lines have been suspended and other areas of production refocused, we have no intention to cease production and have every intention to continue in operation until the conclusion of this transition. We are confident that there will be an Olympic Arms moving forward.”
