Model 24, 24-1, 24-2 (.44 Target Model of 1950, S serial range)

.44 Special. Introduced as the .44 Target Model of 1950. Simply the N-frame Model 21, with adjustable target sights. Quite popular with long-range hand gunning devotees and their leader, Elmer Keith. Introduction of .44 Magnum in 1956, began the death knell of Model 24. Finally discontinued in 1966. S&W produced a total of 5,050 Model 24s. Reintroduced in 1983 and 1984 — and then was dropped again. Note: Add 25% for 4-in. barrel; 40% for 5 in. Six engineering changes.
