Model 40 Centennial

Introduced in 1952 as Smith & Wesson's 100th Anniversary and appropriately called "Centennial Model." A Safety Hammerless design. Built on J-frame. Features a fully concealed hammer and grip safety. Chambered for .38 Special cartridge. Offered with 2-in. barrel blued or nickel-plate. Grips are checkered walnut. Centennial discontinued in 1974.
