Introduced in 1960. Chambered for .22 Short rimfire only. Developed for International Rapid Fire competition. In appearance quite similar to Model 41, except slide and frame made of aluminum alloy in order to lighten it to function with .22 Short cartridge. Not a commercial success like Model 41, so it was discontinued after fewer than 1,000 were manufactured.

Similar to original Model 41, but machine-engraved with Class A+ coverage. Gold-plated borders. Glass-topped presentation case. Introduced 2008. Serial Number Range: FYA0001-FYA0500.

Lower-cost version of Model 41. Developed for the Air Force in 1959. Appearance essentially same as Model 41, with 7" barrel. Later a 5" barrel introduced and finally in 1964, a heavy 5.5" barrel. This economy target pistol never had the popularity the more expensive Model 41 had. Discontinued in 1968, after approximately 4,000 were manufactured.

In 1970, Model 61 was introduced as the only true pocket automatic that S&W produced. Chambered for .22 LR cartridge, with 2.5" barrel and 5-round magazine. Offered blued or nickel finish, with black checkered plastic grips. Dropped from product line in 1974.

A new .22 LR target pistol design, with removable and interchangeable match barrel, fiber-optic adjustable sights, Picatinny rail, textured grips with finger grooves and all stainless construction. Magazine capacity 10 rounds. Two magazines are included. Optional Kryptek Highlander camo finish brings $50 premium. Available with threaded barrel. Introduced 2016.

In 1921, it became apparent to the powers that controlled S&W that .35-caliber automatic was never going to be a commercial success. Harold Wesson, the new president, began to redesign the pistol to accept the .32 ACP, a commercially accepted cartridge, and to streamline the appearance to be more competitive with other pistols on the market, notably Colt's. This new pistol used as many parts from older models as possible for economy's sake. Pivoting barrel was discontinued, as was the cam-type safety in the rear grip strap. A magazine disconnector and a reduced-strength recoil spring to ease cocking were employed. Barrel length kept at 3.5" and 7-shot magazine was retained. Finish is blued only and grips are smooth walnut. Manufactured only 957, between 1924 and 1936. They are eagerly sought by collectors.

Production of the .35 Automatic was S&W's first attempt at an auto-loading pistol. Has a 3.5" barrel and 7-shot detachable magazine. Chambered in .35 S&W Automatic, a one-time-only cartridge, that eventually proved to be the major downfall of this pistol from a commercial standpoint. There were two separate safety devices — a revolving cam on the backstrap and a grip safety on the frontstrap that had to be fully depressed simultaneously while squeezing the trigger. Finish blued or nickel-plated; grips are walnut, with S&W inlaid medallions. Magazine release slides from side to side and is checkered, expensive to manufacture, and destined to be modified. Approximately 8,350 manufactured.

First double-action semi-automatic pistol produced in the United States. Introduced in 1957. Had an alloy frame and chambered for 9mm Parabellum or .30 Luger. Barrel was 4". Finish blued or nickel, with checkered walnut grips. Rear sight was adjustable. Magazine capacity 8 rounds. Discontinued in 1982. The .30 Luger model is very rare and was mostly sold in Europe. Note: Add 150% for .30 Luger; 200% for early production—serial number 1001-2600. (100% premium for Pre-model 39.)

A total of 927 steel frame Model 39s produced. Rare. Use caution.

Introduced in 1971. Similar to Model 39, with a wide grip to hold a double column magazine of 14 rounds. Furnished with black checkered plastic grips. Discontinued in 1982.

Introduced in 1961 as a target pistol. Chambered for .38 Special midrange wadcutter cartridge. Similar in appearance to the Model 39, but single-action-only by virtue of a set screw. The Model 469 answered the need for a more concealable high-capacity pistol. Essentially a "Mini" version of Model 459. Chambered for 9mm Parabellum. Detachable 12-round magazine, with finger grip extension and shortened frame. Barrel 3.5" long; hammer bobbed and does not protrude; safety ambidextrous. Finish matte blue, with black plastic grips. Introduced in 1983; discontinued 1988.

Another version of Model 439 9mm pistol. Incorporates all features of Model 439, with a steel frame instead of aluminum alloy. Introduced in 1980; discontinued 1983.

This variation of Model 459 9mm pistol, has a steel frame instead of aluminum alloy. Identical in all other respects. 25% premium for nickel.

Triggerguard squared for two-hand hold. Magazine well beveled and grips are one-piece wrap-around made of Delrin. Three-dot sighting system is employed. Discontinued.

All these .45 ACP pistols were introduced in the early 1990s during S&W’s “gun of the week” period, when a proliferation of models was added to the line with variations in features. The basic mechanical design is similar, with variations in finish, barrel length, sights, type of action, etc. Values will be generally similar but be aware that some of these may be rare and could bring significant premiums — for example very few Model 4556s were produced. Introduced in 1998. This 9mm pistol features front slide serrations, ambidextrous decocker, titanium coated barrel bushing, match-grade barrel and Novak Lo-Mount sights. Sold with one 15- and 10-round magazine. Stainless steel finish.

S&W offers a 9mm pistol similar to 5906, with frame mounted decocking lever. Both slide and frame are stainless steel. Discontinued in 1993.

This 9mm pistol offers the same features as Model 5926, but in a double-action-only model. Hammer configuration is semi-bobbed instead of serrated.

A 9mm model with M5906 frame and M3914 slide. Has stainless steel frame and blued slide. Novak Lo-Mount fixed sights. Introduced in 1990 and sold through Lew Horton. Scarce.
